Establishing Online Dating Relationships: Safety First
by Oceancalm
Online dating is growing as busy working people have less time to meet new people. It can be a great fun way to meet new and interesting people. But most importantly you must take into consideration your own safety. There are two aspects to this: protection of your computer and yourself.
Before surfing the net make sure that your computer systems are protected.. You need to have a firewall and anti-virus protection for both internet websites and your email. Anything which is being downloaded onto your computer poses a potential risk. If you don't already have these two things in place you may want to consider these offered at no charge to home computer users (i.e. not for commercial use):
Free Firewall Download: ZoneAlarm www.zonelabs.com Free Anti-Virus Download: AVG Anti-Virus www.grisoft.com
One of the most important things you can do to protect yourself is to choose an appropriate dating site. Seek out and choose a reputable online dating service. How? The greatest source of information can often be friends, neighbors, co-workers and others you may know who have tried online dating. See which places they recommend. In addition, search "online dating services" and keep a note of their URLs or website links, the fees, rules and regulations, complete contact information of each and any other useful information that spikes your interest. Then compare each place. Try only those places where you feel safe. Avoid the others.
So take care. Arm your computer - and yourself- with the correct tools and knowledge!
